A better test for AI in schools

Schools do not need a fantasy of zero AI use. They need a standard that protects the parts of learning that matter most, original thinking, revision, recall, and explanation. If a class can only survive by pretending the tool does not exist, the class is already behind. Better to teach students when the shortcut is useful, when it is lazy, and when it empties the assignment of meaning. That is a stronger lesson than any ban.
